Pedestrians who are hit by cars are covered by the insurance of the at-fault driver. Drivers in Texas are required to have liability insurance of $30,000 per person and $60,000 per accident for bodily injury.
This liability insurance also covers pedestrians hit by the insured driver. If the driver does not have insurance, the pedestrian’s own uninsured motorist coverage in their auto insurance plan would kick in to help pay for medical expenses. The same is applied when the driver’s insurance is not enough to cover the total amount of medical expenses.
